On the 2nd of February, Ashton students entered the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. The Intermediate Mathematical Challenge is a 60-minute, multiple-choice Challenge. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. The problems on the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge are designed to make students think.

The challenge is open to all schools across the country and the highest performing students are selected for a bronze, silver or gold award (awarded in the ratio 3:2:1). We are thrilled to announce that the following awards were achieved by our Year 9 Ashton students:

Gold award

  • Sandy L
  • Muhammad M
  • Millie-Anne H

Silver award

  • Isaac T
  • Millie S

Bronze award

  • Wilbur M
  • Mia W
  • Libby B
  • Isabel W

Sandy, Muhammad and Millie-Ann have also been invited to continue into the next round - the 'Grey Kangaroo' which means that they scored within the top 8,000 students in the country.

Well done to all our students who entered the challenge - you made us proud!

And good luck to our Grey Kangaroo entrants.
